Donate Your Old Cell Phone

Did you know that less than 1% of cell phones in the US are recycled? “Retired” cell phones which are not recycled and end up in landfills have the potential to leak toxic chemicals into the ground.

But those used cell phones can help make a positive difference for those in need.

Now you can benefit HAWC and senior citizens in Essex County by donating your old cell phone.

First, HAWC needs a limited number of working cell phones, along with chargers, for emergency (911) use by our clients. In addition, Sheriff Frank Cousins needs working cell phones, along with chargers, to distribute to senior citizens throughout Essex County for emergency (911) use as part of the Sheriff’s TRIAD program.

Second, HAWC will be paid for any donated cell phones which are not needed for either HAWC’s clients or Sheriff Cousins’ TRIAD program. So, if you have a cell phone you are no longer using, please drop it off at one of the sites shown below, and please, remember to include the battery!
