Position Summary: |
|
|
This
full-time position provides prevention and
intervention services to youth in the 23 cities and
towns of HAWC’s service area. The Youth Outreach
Program educates youth to prevent violence both in
local schools and in the community. The program
strives to address gender-based violence within an
anti-oppression context through educational outreach
and activities that empower youth to make healthy
choices and to become peer education leaders. |

Position Details: |
|
-
Develop and
present violence prevention curriculum to
elementary, middle and high school students
-
Build in-school
partnerships with School Resource Officers,
Guidance Department, and Health Educators
-
Develop and
implement all-school anti-violence training and
protocol for teachers, counselors and parents
-
Facilitate weekly
in-school leadership groups for male and female
students
-
Conduct community
outreach and training on inter-related topics
such as domestic violence, dating violence,
gang activity, school
violence, bullying and teasing
-
Create and
facilitate innovative after-school and summer
programs for youth
-
Provide
orientation, training, support and mentor new
youth outreach staff as needed
-
Participate in
training new volunteers
-
Provide
individual advocacy for youth in abusive
relationships
-
Participate in
after-hours On-Call
-
Attend regular
supervision, Team meetings and all staff
meetings
-
Put into practice
workplace and team values
-
Work toward
achieving team goals
-
Able to flex
hours to meet position responsibilities

Valid driver’s
license and vehicle required
